The series launches with The Rambling Roses Gardening Club, the warm and joyful story of Bonnie Fletcher, who catches her husband kissing the party planner at her own sixtieth birthday party and decides she’s had enough of being a wallflower. Within a fortnight, she’s taken a job in the wilds of Northumberland as housekeeper to Clara, a fiery ninety-two-year-old with an overgrown garden, a prickly nephew and a past full of secrets. As Bonnie sets out to revive Clara’s old village gardening club, the Rambling Roses, she discovers the unexpected pleasures of friendship, love and life after sixty.
Three further novels will follow in 2028/2029, set in the same Northumberland village but centring a different character from the gardening club each time.
Suzanne Snow is a horticulturalist turned full-time novelist, based in Lancashire. She is the author of three series for Canelo – the Thorndale series, the Love in the Lakes series and the Home in Hartfell series.
Laura and Jessie said: “Bonnie Fletcher is a character you fall for the moment she appears – watching her leave her appalling husband to find freedom is just the first of many pleasures in this heartfelt, uplifting book. Suzanne is an RNA winner with a devoted readership for a reason: her writing is warm without being saccharine, funny without being farcical, and rooted in a real love – and knowledge – of rural landscape and nature. We can’t wait to see the Rambling Roses bloom with Pellerin!”
Suzanne said: “I’m thrilled to have joined Pellerin at this very exciting stage in their journey, and partnering with them to bring more rural romances to readers. Thank you to my agent, Catherine Pellegrino, for finding such a wonderful home for The Rambling Roses Gardening Club series, and to Laura and Jessie for giving me the opportunity to continue writing more of the stories I love.”
