Pellerin Books acquires heartwarming cosy crime series starring the Village Vet Detective by Julie Haworth.

Jessie Sullivan and Laura Palmer, co-founders of Pellerin Books, have acquired world English-language rights in three books by Julie Haworth from Laura Macdougall at United Agents for publication in paperback, e-book and audio from 2026.

Julie Haworth is the author of New Beginnings at the Cosy Cat Cafe, part of the Blossom Heath series of romance novels, and is now launching a new cosy crime series for animal lovers everywhere. The first book, The Village Vet Detective, introduces Daisy Turner, a thirty-year-old vet who returns to the Devon village of Honeysuckle Harbour to take over her father’s practice after his death. Still grieving and under pressure from a corporate veterinary chain opening nearby, Daisy is drawn into village life just as a local dog breeder is found dead in circumstances the police dismiss as a tragic accident. Daisy’s instincts tell her otherwise…

Blending classic puzzle-led cosy crime with a delightful romance for our heroine Daisy, The Village Vet Detective uses its rural setting and veterinary framework to create a fresh take on the genre. The novel will appeal to readers of Fiona Leitch, Fiona Walker, Richard Osman and the Rev Richard Coles, combining village intrigue, warmth and humour with a satisfying central mystery.

Jessie and Laura said: “Julie has created a wonderfully vivid village world, full of warmth, character and community. The village vet detective, Daisy, is a brilliant new sleuth for one of our favourite genres – and who couldn’t fail to be captivated by a book full of puppies?! This is exactly the kind of series readers love to return to, and we’re so excited to be partnering with Julie Haworth on her new writing direction.”

Julie Haworth said: “’I’m thrilled to be working with Laura and Jessie at Pellerin Books, their enthusiasm for great storytelling has shone through at every step of the process. I can’t wait to introduce you all to the inhabitants of Honeysuckle Harbour and share the first instalment in Daisy’s story with readers everywhere!’”
