Pellerin Books acquires brand-new thriller series and four backlist titles from ‘supremely talented’ David Mark

Laura Palmer and Jessie Sullivan, co-founders of Pellerin Books, have acquired world English Language rights in two new crime thrillers and four backlist republications by David Mark from Francesca Riccardi at Kate Nash agency, for publication in paperback, e-book and audio from 2026.

The new thriller, The Drowned Girl, will publish in May 2026 and launches a brand-new series starring ex-con and private investigator, Moses Crow, recently released from an eight year stint in a brutal Spanish prison. Set in the wilds of Cumbria, the novel opens with the disappearance of a woman from a remote lake, and links back to a cold case that forces Moses to confront long-buried truths about loyalty, guilt and family secrets.

Atmospheric and morally complex, The Drowned Girl blends propulsive thriller plotting with a literary sensibility that evokes the brooding landscapes of northern England. This is dark, character-driven crime for readers of Stuart MacBride, John Connolly and J. M. Dalgliesh.

The second Moses Crow novel is scheduled for 2027, and continues the series’ exploration of rural menace, buried secrets and psychological damage. Alongside the new series, Pellerin Books will republish three of Mark’s acclaimed standalone thrillers, as well as a prequel to the Moses Crow series, Into the Woods.

Jessie and Laura said: “David Mark is exactly the kind of writer Pellerin exists to champion. He’s supremely talented, critically admired, and capable of writing crime fiction that is both uncompromising and deeply human. We can’t wait to build a new readership for David’s work, bringing fresh focus to his backlist while launching a powerful and original new crime series.”

David Mark said: “It can sometimes feel like a spectacularly bleak time to be a writer so it’s very encouraging to see people with a true love of books launching something that offers a different type of publishing experience. The team at Pellerin have books in their blood and really understand what strange, precious and peculiar creatures most writers are – it’s nice to meet publishers who actually have our best interests at heart.”
